Marikina Polytechnic College President Dr. Rene M. Colocar highlighted the institution’s accomplishments over his five years of leadership during Tan-Aw 2026, held alongside the second Ugnayan Meeting on October 28, 2026.

Among MPC’s notable achievements was its performance in licensure examinations. In March 2026, the College produced 96 newly licensed professional teachers, recording a 77.42 per cent passing rate, above the national rate of 73.10 per cent. First-time examinees achieved an 83.52 per cent passing rate, while Electronics Technicians recorded 88.57 per cent.

The College also strengthened its academic standing through Certificates of Program Compliance from the Commission on Higher Education for its Industrial Technology specializations, Electronics Engineering and Entrepreneurship. Its Technical-Vocational Teacher Education and Industrial Technology programs hold Level III reaccredited status.

Published research increased by 250 per cent between 2022 and 2026.

Research and innovation received further support through P5 million from the Department of Science and Technology for the Footwear Innovation and Technology Research Laboratory, another P2 million for its upgrading, and a P4.9 million IMPACT NXT grant in 2026. Its ReSoles Technology Business Incubator, supported by more than P12 million from DOST-PCIEERD, showcased 14 start-up ventures during its August 2026 Demo Day.

The College’s community outreach expanded by 500 per cent from 2022 to 2025 through initiatives such as Project Teodoro in Oriental Mindoro and Learning Express with Singapore Polytechnic.

Infrastructure projects completed during President Colocar’s leadership included Academic Building 2 in 2023, the six-storey Technology Building and eight-storey Administration Building in 2024, and the Multimedia Center and first phase of the Road and Drainage Project in 2025.

MPC also received five consecutive unmodified audit opinions from the Commission on Audit covering 2021–2025, secured ISO 9001 certification and gained international sustainability recognition. Its filled plantilla positions increased from 207 in 2021 to 267 in 2025, while faculty members holding doctorates rose from 12 to 29.

Industry collaboration also strengthened, with 49 institutional partners, including 14 international and 35 local organisations. Through its partnership with TAU Corporation of Japan and the ETHOS Cooperative Union, 23 MPC graduates have secured employment in Japan’s automotive sector.

Student welfare remains a priority through programs such as ICARE, the Tele-konsulta Mental Wellness Hub and the Student Success Guide, which provide insurance protection, wellness support and academic guidance.

Guided by the theme, “Pagkilala sa mga Nakamit, Pagtugon sa mga Hamon, Pagtanaw sa Kinabukasan,” Tan-aw 2026 was attended by college officials, faculty members, non-teaching personnel, students, alumni and institutional partners.
