Marikina Polytechnic College has made history with its first-ever inclusion in the Times Higher Education Sustainability Impact Ratings 2026. MPC clinched a global rank within the 1001–1500 bracket out of 1,603 participating universities worldwide.

College President Dr. Rene M. Colocar and International Affairs Dr. Rudy James D. Tabasa, accepted the special award at the THE Global Sustainable Development Congress 2026 at Indonesia Convention Exhibition in Jakarta, Indonesia, from June 22 to 25, 2026. Under the banner “Empowering Sustainability in Higher Education, ” this fifth annual GSDC brings together research, business, government and higher education to accelerate sustainable transformation.

“This milestone represents the MPC community’s collective commitment to achieving sustainable progress. Integrating these sustainability goals into our daily operations demonstrates that we are not just delivering quality technical education, but also creating a long-lasting legacy for our community and our country,” President Colocar shared.

Geared towards becoming “The Future National TVET University,” MPC scored high in several global sustainable categories. The college ranked in the 401–600  bracket in SDG 4 (Quality Education), placed in the 601–800 tier for SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy) following its campus clean-energy initiatives, as well as matching that rank for SDG 1 (No Poverty) and SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities). MPC placed between 801–1000 for SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) and 1001–1500 for SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). The Times Higher Education Impact Ratings are the world’s only global performance tables that assess higher education institutions against the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals, evaluating schools across research, stewardship, outreach, and teaching. #
