MPC Partners with APEG Australia, Don Bosco for Global Standards

Marikina Polytechnic College is eyeing international recognition for its micro-credential programs following an exploratory meeting with the Asia Pacific Education Group (APEG) Australia and Don Bosco Technical College on February 12, 2026 at the New Administration Building – Technology Business Incubator Function Hall.

President Dr. Rene M. Colocar shared the college’s journey from a small trade school established in 1957 to a dynamic polytechnic college geared towards becoming the National TVET University.

“With you here today, I’m confident that we’ll be able to build on that mission together; sharing ideas, learning from one another, and creating real impact for the people and communities we serve,” Pres. Colocar said. This potential partnership firmly supports the CHED’s advocacy on lifelong learning and credential portability leading to empowered Filipinos with improved employability industry relevance and access to global opportunities.

Dr. Glen R. Mangali, Vice President for Planning, Research, Extension, Linkages, Quality Assurance, Alumni Relations and Publication stated that the exploratory meeting is aimed at establishing alignment between our micro-credential framework and international standards, exploring viable certification and co-validation models, clarifying accreditation pathways and quality assurance requirements and defining concrete next steps with clear timelines and institutional commitments.

Dr. Ma. Arra B. Santos-Bava, Vice President for Academic Affairs, discussed the MPC’s Flexible Learning and Experience Credentials. The meeting focused on how the college can get its micro-credential programs certified and accredited abroad. By aligning with international standards, the college aims to ensure its students earn digital badges and certificates that are recognized by employers.

Dr. Rudy James D. Tabasa, Director for External Linkages and Internationalization Office, focused his discussion on strengthening academic linkages, enhancing industry partnerships, and expanding global opportunities.

Representatives from APEG and Don Bosco shared their expertise on how to bridge the gap between local education and global job markets. In his closing remarks, Dr. Joemel V. Bautista, Vice President for Administration and Finance, reaffirmed MPC’s commitment to building meaningful and sustainable partnerships.
