Marikina Polytechnic College (MPC) successfully staged its first-ever Education Summit, dubbed MPC C.A.M.P. (Cultivating Aspiring Minds through Professionalism) 2025, from August 7–9, 2025, at Sol Y Viento, Calamba City, Laguna. With the theme “Empowering Educators for Gender Equity and Industry-Driven Outcomes: Bridging Skills, Innovation, and Enterprise”, the summit underscored the critical role of educators in shaping inclusive, industry-responsive learning environments.
The event gathered MPC faculty members and educators from various institutions, serving as a platform for collaboration, idea exchange, and preparation for Academic Year 2025–2026. As College President Dr. Rene M. Colocar emphasized, “Collaborate relentlessly – share insights, challenge norms, and grow together.”
Day 1 – August 7, 2025
The summit opened with Dr. Ma. Arra B. Santos presenting the Statement of Purpose and the Faculty and Employee Professional Development Framework, alongside institutional data on enrolment, survival rates, and accomplishments.
Dr. Colocar challenged educators to adopt innovative, gender-sensitive classroom strategies, urging them to integrate new technologies and ensure inclusivity in every learning space.
Dr. Glen R. Mangali, Vice President for Planning, Research, Linkages, Quality Assurance, and Publication, introduced Outcomes-Based Education (OBE) principles, guiding faculty on aligning instructional and assessment strategies with evolving industry and student needs.
Day 2 – August 8, 2025
The second day began with a recap by Dr. Ferdinand Leis before Dr. Marie Luvett Goh discussed Future-Ready Teaching: Strengthening OBE through Digital Innovation and Industry 4.0–5.0 Synergy.
Prof. Maricel L. Divina followed with a session on integrating Gender and Development (GAD) principles into teaching. A simulation activity led by Dr. Mary Grace P. Goño allowed participants to role-play real-world classroom situations involving gender sensitivity issues.
Prof. Angelo Jabilles then unveiled the revised OBTL template, incorporating SDGs, GAD principles, and ILOs, which was subsequently approved along with the Academic Calendar for AY 2025–2026 during the Academic Council Meeting.
A touching tribute was given to Dr. Ronald Allan S. Mabunga as he prepared to return to his mother institution, the Philippine Normal University.
The afternoon featured Dr. Medardo B. Bombita’s workshop on Unified Leadership and Service for a Future-Ready MPC, capped by team-building activities reinforcing the summit’s collaboration theme.
Day 3 – August 9, 2025
Day 3 started with Prof. Linard A. Mapula’s recap of Day 2 before introducing guest speaker Ms. Diane Angella Dugan Eustaquio, Executive Director of IdeaSpace. Her talk, Contextualizing Levels of Leadership in Higher Education and MPC Branding: Embedding Innovation and Enterprise in Teaching, inspired the faculty to infuse innovation and entrepreneurship into their instructional approaches.
Interactive networking activities allowed participants to connect on a deeper level, followed by the awarding of a Certificate of Appreciation to Ms. Eustaquio.
Dr. Glen R. Mangali delivered the summit synthesis, while Dr. Mabunga gave the closing remarks, expressing gratitude to all who contributed to the event’s success. The summit was hailed as a milestone achievement for the Office of the Vice-President for Academic Affairs under Dr. Santos, with the strong backing of Dr. Colocar.
The three-day summit reinforced the value of #CollaborateToElevate — a shared vision to bring MPC to greater heights as the country’s first National TVET University.
