In a simple yet meaningful celebration of its 22nd Charter Day Anniversary, Marikina Polytechnic College, under the leadership of President Rene M. Colocar, unveiled its comprehensive blueprint to transition into the National TVET University during the Employees Forum and Caravan on April 14, 2026 at the New Administration Building. The event was centered on the theme, “Empowered Workforce, United Purpose: Building the National TVET University Stronger Together,” reminding employees and students to embody the college’s core values – Mindful, Proactive and Compassionate – which have become a strategic foundation for MPC’s major transformation.

Vice President for Administrative and Finance Dr. Joemel V. Bautista emphasized in his message the shared vision of the institution stating, “As we look ahead to becoming the first National TVET University in the Philippines, let us carry forward the same spirit that built this institution.”

Tasked with presenting MPC’s accomplishments, Board Secretary Dr. Renylin M. Udaundo highlighted a series of high-tier institutional validations establishing a New Gold Standard for the campus that includes a December 2023 ISO 9001:2015 certification for operations, a “Very Satisfactory” financial rating from the Commission on Audit, and advanced academic accreditations reaching Level III for undergraduate programs (BTVTEd and BIT). She also shared that the transition is fueled by a massive community of innovators, with current enrollment reaching 7,836 students. To support this growth, MPC has pioneered the Flexible Learning and Experience Credential (FLExC) pathway, which utilizes microcredentialing. This system allows working students to convert real-world work experience into academic credits, follow an accelerated path to graduation and access national competency mapping. The college’s physical landscape is currently undergoing a transformation through the approved Land Use Development and Infrastructure Plan (LUDIP). This plan ensures that 100% of the institution’s spatial resources are dedicated to education and development, including a massive new academic building under construction.

In terms of innovation and research, the college is bridging the gap between the classroom and the marketplace through the ReSOLES Technology Business Incubator. The incubator guides student ideas through a four-stage cycle, namely Idea Generation, Industry Partnership, Prototyping and Market Launch. Moreover, the college is aggressively expanding its international footprint, establishing partnerships with the Danish Trade Union in Denmark, the APEG Education Group in Australia, and the Sahavith School in Thailand. Locally, it continues to drive impact through a Memorandum of Understanding with Don Bosco via the IMPACT Program. MPC has been recognized as the Philippine Global Citizenship Education (GCED) Regional Hub for the National Capital Region. This is supported by a partnership between the Asia-Pacific Centre of Education for International Understanding and the Philippine Normal University. Likewise, the college has successfully implemented Research Immersion for Skill Enhancement Program (RISE II) designed to elevate the research capabilities and output of the academic community through immersion and training.

Driven by a shared vision and a commitment to being future-ready, MPC is navigating the complexities of a changing era to realize its transformation into the National TVET University. This advancement is propelled by the college’s collective momentum and its unwavering “United in Purpose” mindset. As President Colocar often says, “Let us continue to work together in building a dynamic learning ecosystem.” #
