Gawad Marikit-Na, a symbol, and cradle for recognized women is a way for Marikina Polytechnic College to acknowledge and honor women and their notable accomplishments.
The program was attended by some of our college’s key officials, faculty members, non-teaching personnel, students, and also distinguished women who gave their best in their fields.
Our College President, Dr. Rene Colocar, emphasized the importance and how worthy women are to celebrate this month and also gave a speech for everyone, “To celebrate the National Women’s Month, a time for all the women, mother, sister, wife, teacher, and many more in one, to hold significant roles as women worthy of savory.”
Hon. Marita R. Canapi, CHED Commissioner, also gave a wonderful message that stands out about the month for women: “The National Women’s Month evaluates WE, probably W.E., where W.E. stands for women’s empowerment, and that is why education is more important to empower our women, our faculty members to be better, brighter, and able to produce good citizens for our country, and to empower not only women but also the students to become the next leaders.”
In honoring their dedication and achievements, the MPC GAWAD MARIKIT NA! 2023 committee gave awards to these wonderful women that symbolize commitment, hard work, and perseverance. The awardees were Hon. Stella Luz A. Quimbo, Representative of the Second District, Marikina City; Hon. Marita R. Canapi, Ed.D., Commissioner, Commission on Higher Education; Hon. Julietta M. Paras, Ed.D., Regional Director, CHED-NCR; Hon. Virginia D. Bacay, PH.D., Alumni Trustee, formerly MPC Board of Trustees; Hon. Rosanna A. Urdaneta, Deputy Director General, TESDA; and Hon. Atty. Lily Freida M. Milla, OIC, Deputy Executive Director, CHED-IAS As a token, they have received a trophy, a glass-framed certificate, and an executive journal.
